Bill, thank you for this reply. I've been meaning to write a more lengthy response and I can only assure you that it's on its way. But in the mean time thank you for reading and sharing your insights.

Micah, this past year has been an interesting one in my development as a designer, in that I've submerged myself deeper into the theories and possibilities of design than I knew I was capable of discovering. Even so I've barely scratched the surface of it all, but it's lead me to questions of the validity/worth of designing for the consumer market, and subsequently to questions of what the most important design work of the 21st century will actually be.

I have to tell you I check your blog regularly, and get excited to follow what you're learning at RISD. While I think I'll always see you as surpassing me in design ability, I also see you as a peer and to be truthful the only person from my youth in Washington that I still relate to on any kind of exciting level.

I'm excited to see where you go from here, and where I go from here, and how our explorations of design intersect.

P.S. I'm not dieing or anything. I'm finishing an art history paper tonight, thus the lengthy prose and sentimentality.

That is indeed Stratum (i think it's Stratum 2 actually, it doesn't have the angled stroke on the terminals). Thanks for the compliments! I was definitely looking for it to look midwest so it's great to hear that it worked out.

This looks rad, Micah. Is that Stratum? You make it look so mid-west. I sure like this. Good color choices, nice use of negative space on the back side. I would hang this up and read about corn every day.

That turned out excellent Micah. I didn't realize you were making this an informative poster when you showed me the cover. The information hierarchy is well thought out and balanced, making it an easy read. The colors and overall tone of the piece is quite nice as well. It would make Draplin proud!

My husband (bill) directed me to this site to see your project. I love it. It was very effective - and I think I jumped too when the string was cut! It's amazing that they all fell and remained standing - with the broken egg spilling out around each letter. Really beautiful!

But man - that wire looks like it was a BEAST! You should have all taken a picture with your bandaged fingers!

just realized you constructed that and then shot it...very impressive cause I thought you got really nerdy and learned Maya over the weekend or something. Cool to read about how the process unfolded.
